Journaling
Last message ago
I have been journaling for some time already. I'm not sure when I started but it's been a couple of years at the least.
I use a few different variations of journaling that I introduced across the years, each serving different purposes.
- Structured notes on Obsidian. This is mostly to keep track of what I'm doing, my goals, achievements, etc. It's not really journaling but I still place it under the same category. Weekly reviews included here.
- Pocket notebook. I jot down reminders here, quotes I want to remember (writing them down by hand helps with that), random short-form thoughts during the day. Not journaling per se either but still ...
- Free form journaling. I've a dedicated notebook for this. Mainly for writing down my feelings, emotions, and what I'm going through at the moment. The rawest form of journaling.
- Prayer notes. Gratitude and notes from my daily Bible reading time and meditations. I've another template in Obsidian for this.
- The Daily Stoic Journal. This year I started to follow this practice. A daily prompt yo reflect on a particular topic, goes together with The Daily Stoic, a daily (duh!) short meditation based on a quote from one of the Stoics.
Those I do between a daily and weekly basis. And I'm probably missing some other form I use less frequently, like year reviews.
